Tuesday, October 2.

Tuesday again.  The rain seems to be stopping, but the preschool wont play outside because it has rained soooo much.  Maybe we will go run around McDonalds playland today?  Havent done that in a loong time and the kids (Luka) were asking about it.

Beginning prayers, then on to Faith and Life.  Reviewed Ch 5, and finished the activity, then also read ch 6 on Baptism since baby Jude Hyland is going to be baptised this weekend!  Did the activity on ch 6 also which was fill in the blanks about baptism and Adam and Eve.

Math-  meeting book activities.  Reviewed clocks, not so great today on one hour from now and one hour ago.  Will have to do more tomorrow.  Filled in our favorite day of the week chart from everyones responses from yesterday and asked comparison questions about it.  Did plus 0 math facts test and got 100% in 38 seconds!  whoohoo!  Did worksheet 16 A together. Worked on time and money flashcards.

Spelling- worked on the next page of the lesson, how want sound like WONT with an o, but is spelled WANT.   verbal quiz on some of the other words.

Grammar-  reviewed phrases and complete sentences. Did page 10.

Literature- Read Cecelia Eating Blackberries and answered critical thinking questions. These are SUCH great stories!!

Geography- worked on our map of North America.  Added landmarks- Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico.  We watched short clips online about each place and a 7 min video of the story of Juan Diego that was review for Sylvie since it is one of her favorite stories.  Check it out here:

Our Lady of Guadalupe 7 minute video.  Watch til the end for the info of scientific study on the tilma!

It is also true that in the immediate years following this apparition, nearly the entire country of Mexico was converted.  Also, when Hillary Clinton came to the shrine on some government lets-make-nice-with-the-Catholics visit a few years ago, she had the bishop showing her around and giving her a tour.  She asked him "Who painted that?"  in reference to the tilma/cloak.  He looked at her with amazement and hopefully not much disdain and simply said "God."   I mean, I am not buddist, but if i was a high ranking official visiting a buddist temple, I would have done my homework to look at least informed of the basic facts of the place. Seeing the miracle of the tilma is the entire reason people go to the shrine, and she didn't know that main fact of how the tilma came to be?  Wow. Anyway off my political horse, I am annoyed the government is currently impeding the right to vote absentee by our oversees soldiers.  Needed to vent.  Done! =)
